In country singer Dolly Parton's autobiography about growing up in the mountains of Tennessee, she tells the story of her uncle who convinced her and her siblings that they could grow ponies if they planted pieces of horse dung and tended them carefully enough. The ponies, of course, never grew. Inspired by that story, Ponyseeds is a distant sell on the empty promise of pony cultivation and the power of misplaced faith set against the backdrop of the American west.
